The tissue is taken from shoot apex of plants to produce plants with desirable characteristics.

* Sterilize tissue and apparatus.

* Place tissue a nutrient agar gel with auxin ( Hormone).

* Callus grows, can be cut up.

* Callus transferred to agar gel with cytokinin to stimulate root/shoot growth.

* Gibberellins sometimes added for shoot growth.

* Plantlets growth hormone to grow.

 ADVANTAGE  :

  (1) Bulk up new varieties very quickly.

  (2) Create virus-free strains; apex normally doesn't have viruses; present in other parts.

  (3) Produce a large number of rare plants, reduces cost, don't need to take from the wild.
